Social news site founders launch video production project as full-fledged company.

Revision3, a video production company led by the two founders of Digg.com, said Monday that the company has received $875,000 in angel funding from a group of investors. The funding round, led by Greylock Partners and Netscape founder Marc Andreessen, signals that the company is being formalized after over a year as a garage business.
It also means that at least a handful of the current crop of nerdy, goofy online video projects produced for sites such as YouTube are being viewed as drivers of significant advertising revenue and ripe for investment. The company, whose site is the brainchild of Jay Adelson and Kevin Rose, founders of the popular bookmarking site digg.com, along with David Prager, formerly of TechTV. Its shows are popular among young, techie types who enjoy their brand of goofy humor and tech savvy talk.
Even before being formed as a company, the videos drew advertisers such as Sony, for one of its PlayStation3 games, as well as GoDaddy, a web domain registry.
